Saturday was a great day for Chuck Weaver, as Weaver struck out seven batters to carry the Florence Freedom (14-12) to a 3-2 victory over the Southern Illinois Miners (15-12) at UC Health Stadium.
Cole Miles had a hot bat for the Florence Freedom. Miles went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the third inning and singled in the seventh inning.
Miguel Ramirez allowed one earned run, five hits and two walks while striking out two over six innings of work.
Britt Robertshaw was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
