It took 12 innings, but the Southern Illinois Miners (8-7) managed to put away the Normal CornBelters (4-11) 5-4 on Saturday at Rent One Park, Marion, IL.

With the score tied at four, Chris Burke came to the plate and singled, bringing home Ryan Cavan.

Tyler Booth put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Southern Illinois Miners. He tripled in the fifth and sixth innings.

The Normal CornBelters had no answer for Tyler Lavigne, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Lavigne gave up just three hits, allowed two earned runs, walked three and struck out two during his six innings of work.

Derrick Miramontes got the win, running his season record to 1-0. Miramontes struck out two, walked none and gave up four hits.

Chuck Ghysels (0-2) took the loss for the Normal CornBelters. He lasted just zero innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed one run.
