Jonathan Johnson went 2-5, sparking the Gateway Grizzlies (9-4) to a 6-3 victory over the Schaumburg Boomers (6-6) on Thursday at Schaumburg Boomers Stadium.
He tripled in the third inning and singled in the seventh innings.The Schaumburg Boomers had no answer for Aaron Baker, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Baker gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his 1 2/3 innings of work.
Jordan Dean racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Schaumburg Boomers. He singled in the second, fourth, and sixth innings.
Hunter Ackerman put together a nice outing. The Gateway Grizzlies managed just two hits off of Ackerman, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his three innings of work.
Andrew Aizenstadt recorded his first win of the year for the Gateway Grizzlies. He allowed three runs over six innings. He struck out five, walked one and surrendered nine hits.
Anthony Smith couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Schaumburg Boomers, taking a loss. He lasted just three innings, walked three, struck out four, and allowed five runs.
