The Evansville Otters jump on the Normal CornBelters early and coast to 13-4 win

The Evansville Otters (7-3) shut the door early on the Normal CornBelters (3-7), capturing a 13-4 victory on Tuesday at The Corn Crib.

With 11 runs in the first three innings, the Evansville Otters left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

A two-run double by Nik Balog, a two-run error, an RBI single by Josh Allen, an RBI single by Allen, and an RBI single by Allen in the first inning and a two-run home run by Shayne Houck and a solo home run by Balog during the second inning helped the Evansville Otters put some runs on the board early.

The Evansville Otters came out swinging, scoring seven runs in the first inning to jump ahead of the Normal CornBelters early.

Balog racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Evansville Otters.

Mark Micowski had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the first inning and tripled in the fifth inning.

Preston Olson improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Evansville Otters. He allowed four runs over six innings. He struck out four, walked two and surrendered four hits.

Michael Schweiss was charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed nine runs in 1 1/3 innings, walked none and struck out one.
