The Traverse City Beach Bums (1-2) beat the Gateway Grizzlies (2-1) 6-3 on Sunday at GCS Ballpark behind Jose Vargas, who went 2-4 and hit a home run.

Tommy Richards had two extra-base hits for the Gateway Grizzlies. He doubled in the fourth and eighth innings.

Casey Delgado improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Traverse City Beach Bums. He allowed three runs over five innings. Delgado struck out five, walked one and gave up three hits.

Andrew Aizenstadt ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out five, and allowed four runs.
