Bluestein's gives the Florence Freedom walk-off win over the Washington Wild Things, 6-5

A walk-off from Kyle Bluestein brought home the winning run for the Florence Freedom (7-7) in a 6-5 victory over the Washington Wild Things (10-4) at UC Health Stadium on Thursday.

Joe Staley put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Florence Freedom. He homered in the third inning, doubled in the fifth inning, and singled in the seventh inning.

The Washington Wild Things had no answer for Chris Cummins, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Cummins held the Washington Wild Things hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.

Stewart Ijames had two extra-base hits for the Washington Wild Things. He doubled in the fourth inning and homered in the fifth innings.

Jorge Marban recorded his second win of the year for the Florence Freedom. Marban struck out two, walked two and gave up no hits.

Alfonso Yevoli (1-1) took the loss for the Washington Wild Things. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked one, struck out one, and allowed one run.

The Florence Freedom's Nick Stein, Staley and Jacob Tanis combined for seven hits and five RBIs.
