The Alameda Merchants get on top of the Top Speed Baseball early but can't hang on in 6-4 loss

The Alameda Merchants (24-21) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 6-4 to the Top Speed Baseball (42-7) on Saturday.

While the Alameda Merchants led until the sixth inning, the Top Speed Baseball worked their way back and took the lead on a two-run home run by Rob Smith Jr..

Jackson Slaid had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the first inning and homered in the third inning.

The Alameda Merchants' lineup had no answer for Kyer Vega. The Alameda Merchants managed just three hits off of Vega, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his three innings of work.

Andrew Millner got the win, running his season record to 4-1. He allowed four runs over six innings. He struck out four, walked one and surrendered six hits.

Ricky Delgado (3-5) took the loss for the Alameda Merchants. He allowed six runs in six innings, walked two and struck out four.

The Top Speed Baseball's Slaid, Wes Koenig and Smith Jr. combined for six hits and four RBIs.
