Trevor Meleski went 2-3, helping the Edmonton Prospects (9-9) to a 5-1 victory over the Medicine Hat Mavericks (11-5) on Wednesday at Telus Field.

He singled in the first inning and tripled in the third inning.

The Medicine Hat Mavericks had no answer for Noah Gapp, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Gapp held the Medicine Hat Mavericks hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Curtis Taylor got the win, running his season record to 2-1. He allowed one run over five innings. He struck out three, walked one and surrendered four hits.

Michael Bucci ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
