The South Puget Sound (0-26) came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 5-2 ballgame against the Green River (7-17) on Friday at Service Club- Kent.
While the South Puget Sound led until the sixth inning, the Green River worked their way back and took the lead on an error.
Aris Califano had two extra-base hits for the Green River. He tripled in the first and fifth innings and singled in the sixth inning.
The South Puget Sound had no answer for Rachel Barcena, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Barcena held the South Puget Sound hitless over four innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out seven.
Jamie Bingham went a perfect 1-1 at the plate for the South Puget Sound. He homered in the third inning.
Amanda Rupright was charged with his twenty-fourth loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked none, struck out six, and allowed five runs.
