Thursday was a great day for Luke Mamer, as Mamer threw a shutout to carry the Champion City Kings (20-35) to a 2-0 victory over the Richmond RiverRats (20-34) at Carelton Davidson Stadium.

Mamer held the Richmond RiverRats scoreless during his nine innings of work. He pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on four hits while ringing up five.

Bowie Matteson couldn't get it done on the bump for the Richmond RiverRats, taking a loss. He lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed two runs.
