Thursday was a great day for Ryan Lavoie, as Lavoie struck out seven batters to carry the West Virginia Miners (23-14) to a 3-1 victory over the Champion City Kings at Linda K. Epling Stadium.
The West Virginia Miners were led by Grant Massey's hitting. Massey went 3-4 and scored two runs. He singled in the first, fifth, and seventh innings.
Marcus Reyes couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Champion City Kings (14-20), taking a loss. He lasted just seven innings, walked none, struck out four, and allowed three runs.
