Keegan Akin held the Quincy Gems (13-11) scoreless for 6 2/3 innings to boost the Chillicothe Paints (16-7) to a 1-0 victory.

Akin struck out six and allowed one walk and two hits.

A walk-off single by Joe Hoscheit gave the Chillicothe Paints the win.

It was a good day at the plate for the Chillicothe Paints' Hoscheit. Hoscheit went 3-6 and drove in one. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the eleventh and twelfth innings.

Jason Johnson improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Chillicothe Paints. He struck out two, walked none and surrendered one hit.

Jake Wehde ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out none, and allowed one run.
