Sean Ullrich went 4-4 at the plate, helping the Quincy Gems (13-9) to a 10-7 victory over the Springfield Sliders (4-19) on Monday at Robin Roberts Field.
He singled in the second inning, tripled in the fifth inning, and doubled in the fourth and seventh innings.The Springfield Sliders' Michael Randel was perfect at the dish, going 3-3. He singled in the fifth, sixth, and eighth innings.
Even though Mitch Weis allowed five runs over six innings he still recorded the victory, his first of the season. Weis struck out none, walked three and gave up six hits.
Brett Fitzwater ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked three, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
