The West Virginia Miners (9-11) beat the Champion City Kings (11-8) 4-1 on Thursday at Davidson Stadium behind Grant Massey, who went 2-4.

He singled in the first and fourth innings.

The Champion City Kings had no answer for Trevor Conn, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Champion City Kings managed just three hits off of Conn, who allowed one earned run, walked none and struck out two during his five innings of work.

Brent Hermanussen had a hot bat for the Champion City Kings. Hermanussen went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the fifth inning.

Bradley Williams was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
