Jacob Rodrigue kept the West Virginia Miners (5-6) off the board during his 6 2/3 innings of work and the Champion City Kings (6-4) beat the West Virginia Miners, 4-1.

Rodrigue allowed four hits, one walk and struck out six.

Chris Perkovich was hot from the plate for the Champion City Kings. Perkovich went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He tripled in the second inning and singled in the ninth inning.

A bright spot for the West Virginia Miners in the defeat was Cody Smith, who allowed only zero runs while striking out five.

Seth Noreman (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just three innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
