The Hannibal Cavemen take out the Terre Haute Rex with help from Russo, 9-4

Gary Russo went 1-3, sparking the Hannibal Cavemen (7-5) to a 9-4 victory over the Terre Haute Rex (7-4) on Friday at Clemens Field.

He singled in the fifth inning.

The Terre Haute Rex had no answer for Clinton Perez, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Perez held the Terre Haute Rex hitless over 2 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four.

Manuel De Jesus did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Terre Haute Rex, reaching base three times. He scored one run and had one RBI. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the sixth inning.

Austin Gardner brought the heat against the Hannibal Cavemen during his outing. The Hannibal Cavemen managed just three hits off of the the Terre Haute Rex's pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his three innings of work.

Jalen Miller improved to 2-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Hannibal Cavemen. He allowed four runs over 5 2/3 innings. Miller struck out four, walked six and gave up five hits.

Greg Jacknewitz ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked three, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
