The Schaumburg Boomers take out the Lake Erie Crushers with help from Dean, 6-5

Jordan Dean collected three hits, sparking the Schaumburg Boomers (4-0) to a 6-5 victory over the Lake Erie Crushers (3-3) on Saturday at Schaumburg Baseball Stadium.

He tripled in the third innings and singled in the first and eighth innings.

It was a good day at the plate for the Lake Erie Crushers' Daniel Bowman. Bowman went 3-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He homered in the first inning and singled in the sixth and eighth innings.

Matt Smith looked sharp on the mound. The Schaumburg Boomers managed just one hit off of the the Lake Erie Crushers' pitcher, who allowed two earned runs, walked one and struck out four during his 4 2/3 innings of work.

Mike Giovenco got the win, running his season record to 2-0. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered one hit.

Smith ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year.
