Helms leads the Melville Millionaires to 4-1 win over the Medicine Hat Mavericks

Story by Narrative Science.

Matt Helms hit two home runs to carry the Melville Millionaires (9-4) to a 4-1 win over the Medicine Hat Mavericks (7-3) at Pirie Field.

The Melville Millionaires relied on Homero Ortiz to eat up innings en route to the win. Ortiz allowed one earned run, six hits and two walks while striking out five over 8 1/3 innings of work.

It was a good day at the plate for the Medicine Hat Mavericks' Joel Lutz. Lutz went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the fourth inning and singled in the eighth inning.

Ryan Castadio ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed four runs.

The Melville Millionaires were sparked by Ben Villafuerte and Helms, who teamed up for three hits and four RBIs.
