Quintin Crandall went 1-3 as the Hutchinson (KS) Monarchs (1-0) took home a 2-1 victory over the San Luis (CA) Obispo Blues (0-1) at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium on Saturday.

The San Luis (CA) Obispo Blues had no answer for Jean Acevado, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The San Luis (CA) Obispo Blues managed just one hit off of the the Hutchinson (KS) Monarchs' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out five during his four innings of work.

Corey Ray was effective even in defeat, mowing down seven the Hutchinson (KS) Monarchs batters and allowing two runs.

Ray couldn't get it done on the mound for the San Luis (CA) Obispo Blues, taking a loss.
