A magnificent effort by Mike Gibbons hoisted the Torrington Titans (10-15) to a 2-0 win in seven innings over the Seacoast Mavericks (10-17) on Friday at Fuessenich Park.
The Torrington Titans were led by Jim Topps's hitting. Topps went 2-2 and scored two runs. He singled in the first and third innings.
Gibbons got the win, running his season record to 2-1. Gibbons struck out six, walked two and gave up no hits.
David Drouin was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked none, struck out six, and allowed two runs.
