The Akron Racers (14-26) failed to take advantage of Taylor Schlopy's effort at the plate on Friday, losing 10-9 to the Chicago Bandits (30-10) at Firestone Stadium.
Schlopy blasted two home runs for the Akron Racers. Schlopy went 2-3 in the game with two RBIs and three runs scored. Schlopy homered in the sixth inning.
Both squads had things going at the plate, tallying 19 runs and 21 hits, including zero extra base hits. There were six pitchers used in the game as the two managers searched for any way to finish it off.
Tammy Williams racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Chicago Bandits. She singled in the second inning and homered in the fourth inning.
Mel Dumezich improved to 2-3 on the year by picking up the win for the Chicago Bandits. She allowed four runs over 4 2/3 innings. She struck out four, walked five and surrendered five hits.
Rachele Fico (5-6) took the loss for the Akron Racers. She lasted just two innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
