The AAA Indians (5-1) refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against the AAA Rockies (4-4), recording an 11-3 victory on Thursday at Foothills Park.
Seven runs in the first three innings allowed the AAA Indians to put the game away early.
A groundout by Kyle McIntaggart, an RBI single by Anthony Bui, and an RBI double by Tyler Jansen during the first inning and and a groundout by Easton Tetz in the second inning helped the AAA Indians put some runs on the board early.Brendan Chapman was the lone bright spot for the AAA Rockies in the loss.
Chapman paced the AAA Rockies at the plate. Chapman went 2-3 and scored one run. He singled in the first and fourth innings.
The AAA Indians' lineup had no answer for Chapman. Chapman held the AAA Indians hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out none.
Jansen had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits.
Cooper Watson brought the heat against the AAA Rockies during his outing. The AAA Rockies managed just two hits off of the the AAA Indians' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one during his five innings of work.
Brian Stilling (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed eight runs in four innings, walked three and struck out three.
The AAA Indians' Jackson Oldale, Brady Bruce, Bui and Jansen combined for seven hits and six RBIs.
