An exceptional effort by Jake Busiek spurred the Quincy Gems (34-22) to a 2-0 win over the Springfield Sliders (10-46) on Friday at Robin Roberts Field.

The Quincy Gems' Busiek kept the Springfield Sliders off the scoreboard for all nine innings he was on the hill. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on three hits while striking out five.

Erik Johansen couldn't get it done on the bump for the Springfield Sliders, taking a loss. He lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
