The Butler Blue Sox (23-18) beat the Chillicothe Paints 7-1 on Friday at Pullman Park after a four-run explosion in the eighth inning.
Tyler Detmer had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the first inning, singled in the sixth innings, and tripled in the eighth inning.
Robert Hawkins picked up the win for the Butler Blue Sox. Hawkins allowed one earned run, six hits and two walks while striking out four over eight innings of work.
Dominic Brugnoni had a hot bat for the Chillicothe Paints (23-16). Brugnoni went 2-3 and scored one run. He tripled in the fifth inning and singled in the seventh inning.
Steve Laudicina was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed three runs.
Pat McCarthy, Matt Peters, Alex Jurich and Detmer helped lead the Butler Blue Sox. They combined for nine hits and five RBIs.
