A great effort by Ryan Akins carried the Richmond RiverRats (14-22) to a 12-9 win over the Slippery Rock Sliders (16-20) on Sunday at McBride Stadium.
Akins hit two home runs for the Richmond RiverRats. Akins went 2-4 in the game with five RBIs and two runs scored. Akins homered in the fourth and fifth innings.
The two teams combined for 21 runs and 26 hits, including zero extra base hits. Both bullpens were busy with eight pitchers used in the game as the skippers of both squads tried to finish it off.
Tom Crimi racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Slippery Rock Sliders. He singled in the third, fourth, and ninth innings.
Keegan Ghidotti pitched lights out for the Slippery Rock Sliders. The Richmond RiverRats managed just one hit off of Ghidotti, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his two innings of work.
Kent Williams got his second win for the Richmond RiverRats despite allowing six runs over six innings. Williams struck out three, walked five and gave up eight hits.
Tyler Wilson was charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed six runs in four innings, walked two and struck out three.
