The Springfield Sliders (4-25) came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 2-1 ballgame against the Danville Dans (19-11) on Tuesday at Danville Stadium.

A sacrifice fly by Chet Simoneaux gave the Danville Dans the lead in the sixth inning.

The Springfield Sliders' lineup had no answer for Mitch Holtz. Holtz held the Springfield Sliders hitless over 2 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five.

Ridge Ackerman (1-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just six innings, walked three, struck out four, and allowed two runs.
