An ace performance by Robert Hawkins spurred the Butler Blue Sox (7-6) to a 2-0 win over the Chillicothe Paints (7-6) on Tuesday at VA Memorial Stadium.
Hawkins held the Chillicothe Paints scoreless for eight innings. Hawkins struck out seven and allowed one walk and two hits.
Ryan Fitzgerald helped the Butler Blue Sox take the lead for good in the eighth inning. After Taylor Schmidt singled, a wild pitch scored Schmidt.
Greg Greve couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Chillicothe Paints, taking a loss. He lasted just two innings, walked none, struck out four, and allowed two runs.
