The Butler Blue Sox get on top of the West Virginia Miners early but can't hang on in 7-2 loss

The Butler Blue Sox (6-6) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 7-2 to the West Virginia Miners (6-6) on Sunday.

A two-run double by Pat Kregeloh gave the West Virginia Miners the lead in the fifth inning.

Kregeloh had two extra-base hits for the West Virginia Miners. He doubled in the fourth and fifth innings.

Sam Hunter pitched lights out for the West Virginia Miners. The Butler Blue Sox managed just one hit off of the the West Virginia Miners' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five during his two innings of work.

Taylor Schmidt led the Butler Blue Sox's offensive threat, as he got on base two times in the game. He scored one run and had one RBI. He tripled in the second inning.

David Hess recorded his first win of the year for the West Virginia Miners. He allowed two runs over five innings. Hess struck out eight, walked three and gave up five hits.

Anthony Caringi ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed three runs.

The West Virginia Miners' Zach Woolcock, Kaeo Aliviado and Kregeloh combined for seven hits and three RBIs.
