The Slippery Rock Sliders (5-7) held tough until late against the Lorain County Ironmen (6-6) on Sunday, but the Lorain County Ironmen scored nine runs late for a 17-5 victory at The Pipe Yard.
The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to five lead changes in the game.
The Lorain County Ironmen took the lead in the fifth inning and held on for the victory. An error scored Zach Ratcliff and gave the Lorain County Ironmen the lead for good.
Ratcliff racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Lorain County Ironmen. He homered in the seventh inning and doubled in the eighth inning.
Troy Summers looked sharp on the mound. The Slippery Rock Sliders managed just one hit off of Summers, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out two during his 2 2/3 innings of work.
Even though Brad Raley allowed five runs over five innings he still recorded the victory, his first of the season. He struck out four, walked two and surrendered eight hits.
Travis Clark (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
