The Springfield Sliders (2-4) beat the Danville Dans (1-2) 5-1 on Monday at Robin Roberts Field behind Kyle Desimone, who had two extra base hits.
He singled in the fourth inning and doubled in the first and fifth innings.The Danville Dans had no answer for Ridge Ackerman, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Danville Dans managed just one hit off of Ackerman, who allowed one earned run, walked one and struck out six during his 5 2/3 innings of work.
The Springfield Sliders couldn't get anything going so long as Brant Jones was on the hill. Jones held the Springfield Sliders hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.
Matt Brandys (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, walked three, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
