The West Virginia Miners (1-1) didn't put up much of a fight on Wednesday, as the Slippery Rock Sliders (1-1) cruised to a blowout 8-1 win at Linda K. Epling Stadium.

The Slippery Rock Sliders scored two runs in the eighth on an RBI single by Daniel Garza and an RBI single by Garza.

Matthew Calhoun was solid at the plate for the Slippery Rock Sliders. Calhoun went 3-4 and scored one run. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the fourth and eighth innings.

The West Virginia Miners couldn't get anything going as long as Zach Place was on the mound. The West Virginia Miners managed just one hit off of Place, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out seven during his three innings of work.

David Wilson got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed one run over four innings. He struck out four, walked three and surrendered four hits.

Quinton Yocom ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked one, struck out five, and allowed four runs.
