The Auburn Wildcats (7-9) shut the door early on the Nevada Big Horns (6-5), capturing a 17-3 victory on Saturday at South Valleys Complex.
The game was decided quickly as the Auburn Wildcats exerted their will early with nine runs in the first three innings.
An RBI single by Ethan McGill in the first inning and an error, a two-run single by Antonio Ibarra, an RBI single by Stefan Kancylarz, a sacrifice fly by Hunter Gallant, and a solo home run by McGill during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Auburn Wildcats.Ibarra racked up five RBIs on two hits for the Auburn Wildcats.
Mike Proiette improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Auburn Wildcats. He allowed three runs over six innings. He struck out two, walked five and surrendered six hits.
Eric Meyer ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed nine runs in four innings, walked three and struck out four.
The Auburn Wildcats easily handled the Nevada Big Horns pitching as six hitters combined for 14 hits, 15 RBIs and 14 runs scored.
