The Harwich Mariners (3-3) jumped on the Wareham Gatemen (1-5) early on their way to a 5-1 win on Wednesday at Spillane Field, scoring three runs in the first inning.

Sean Fitzgerald put together a nice outing. Fitzgerald held the Wareham Gatemen hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.

Patrick Connaughton improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Harwich Mariners. He allowed one run over five innings. Connaughton struck out seven, walked three and gave up five hits.

Dalton Brown (0-1) took the loss for the Wareham Gatemen. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked three, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
