The Lake Erie Crushers (46-31)'s three first-inning runs built an early lead that helped bring home a 7-5 win over the Washington Wild Things (35-42) on Wednesday at All Pro Freight Stadium.

Craig Hertler boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 4-4 day at the plate to pace the Lake Erie Crushers. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the first, fourth, and seventh innings.

Mickey Jannis picked up the win for the Lake Erie Crushers. Jannis pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed two earned runs, five hits and two walks while striking out four.

C.J. Beatty had three extra-base hits for the Washington Wild Things. He tripled in the first inning, homered in the eighth inning, and doubled in the ninth inning.

Gary Lee (5-8) took the loss for the Washington Wild Things. He allowed seven runs in 6 2/3 innings, walked none and struck out none.
