The Joliet Slammers (30-39) beat the Windy City ThunderBolts (30-39) 8-6 on Monday at Silver Cross Field behind Nick Akins, who drove in three runs.
He singled in the first inning and homered in the fourth inning.Evan Button had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He homered in the second inning, singled in the sixth inning, and doubled in the seventh inning.
Jessie Snodgrass looked sharp on the mound. Snodgrass held the Joliet Slammers hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.
Chuck Lofgren got the win, running his season record to 6-5. He allowed four runs over five innings. Lofgren struck out two, walked four and gave up six hits.
