Mike Giovenco held the Joliet Slammers (28-37) scoreless for seven innings to boost the Schaumburg Boomers (37-28) to a 7-0 victory.

Giovenco allowed three hits, three walks and struck out five.

The Schaumburg Boomers blew out the Joliet Slammers thanks to 10 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Schaumburg Boomers scored two runs in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Brian McConkey and an RBI single by Frank Pfister.

Chad Mozingo got on base two times in the game for the Schaumburg Boomers. He scored three runs and had one RBI. He homered in the third inning.

Brett Zawacki was charged with his sixth loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked two, struck out six, and allowed five runs.
