The Schaumburg Boomers (29-20) beat the Rockford Aviators (15-32) 7-3 on Thursday at Aviator Stadium behind Alexi Colon, who collected three hits.

The Schaumburg Boomers relied on Mike Giovenco to eat up innings en route to the win. Giovenco allowed one earned run, six hits and one walk while striking out six over 7 2/3 innings of work.

Kenny Bryant racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Rockford Aviators. He singled in the fifth and seventh innings and homered in the ninth inning.

Trevor Harden pitched six innings and allowed one earned run, four hits and three walks while striking out four.

Jake Nicholson ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
