An excellent effort by Shawn Kale carried the Joliet Slammers (19-27) to a 9-1 win over the Frontier Greys (17-28) on Wednesday at Silver Cross Field.
The Frontier Greys couldn't get anything going so long as Kale was on the hill. The Frontier Greys managed just two hits off of Kale, who allowed one earned run, walked none and struck out seven during his eight innings of work.
Seth Schwindenhammer rocked the Frontier Greys with two home runs. Schwindenhammer went 2-4 in the game with three RBIs and two runs scored. Schwindenhammer homered in the third and seventh innings.
The biggest inning for the Joliet Slammers was the third. In the inning the Joliet Slammers scored five runs.
Blake Bergeron had a hot bat for the Frontier Greys. Bergeron went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the eighth inning.
Graham Johnson couldn't get it done on the mound for the Frontier Greys, taking a loss. He allowed six runs in four innings, walked three and struck out two.
