While the Southern Illinois Miners led until the ninth inning, the Normal CornBelters worked their way back and took the lead on an RBI single by Santiago Chirino.
Keoni Manago was solid at the plate for the Normal CornBelters. Manago went 2-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the seventh inning and doubled in the ninth inning.
The Southern Illinois Miners had no answer for Alan Oaks, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Oaks held the Southern Illinois Miners hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.
