The Washington Wild Things (12-8) beat the Lake Erie Crushers (9-12) 6-1 on Sunday at Consol Energy Park behind C.J. Beatty, who went 2-4 and hit a home run.
He singled in the first inning and homered in the fourth inning.The Washington Wild Things relied on Shawn Smith to eat up innings en route to the win. Smith allowed one earned run, eight hits and no walks while striking out five over nine innings of work.
Devyn Rivera (0-1) took the loss for the Lake Erie Crushers. He lasted just three innings, walked three, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
