The Normal CornBelters (14-6) shut the door early on the Southern Illinois Miners (10-10), capturing an 8-1 victory on Saturday at The Corn Crib.

Eight runs in the first three innings allowed the Normal CornBelters to put the game away early.

A solo home run by Mike Schwartz, an RBI single by Patrick McKenna, an RBI single by David Medina, and an RBI single by T.J. Gavlik in the first inning and a two-run single by Steven Felix, an RBI single by McKenna, and an error during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Normal CornBelters.

Felix racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Normal CornBelters.

Luis Noel picked up the win for the Normal CornBelters. Noel pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run, six hits and one walk while striking out five.

Cody Hall ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed eight runs in 6 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out one.
