The Gateway Grizzlies (1-0) and the Lake Erie Crushers (0-1) both had scoring chances on Friday, but it was the Gateway Grizzlies that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 3-2 win at All Pro Freight Stadium.

The Gateway Grizzlies held off the Lake Erie Crushers, as the Lake Erie Crushers were unable to overcome a two-run third inning deficit.

The Lake Erie Crushers scored on a groundout by Daniel Bowman in the fourth inning and a sacrifice fly by Seth Granger in the ninth inning. Despite their efforts, the Lake Erie Crushers couldn't get over the hump.

Antone DeJesus got on base two times in the game for the Gateway Grizzlies. He doubled in the third inning.

Tim Brown picked up the win for the Gateway Grizzlies. Brown allowed one earned run, six hits and one walk while striking out three over eight innings of work.

Trevor Longfellow couldn't get it done on the mound for the Lake Erie Crushers, taking a loss. He lasted just seven innings, walked two, struck out five, and allowed three runs.
