Stewart's big day not enough as the Matsu Miners fall to the Alaska Goldpanners, 9-8

Story by Narrative Science.

Christin Stewart clubbed two home runs, but it wasn't enough to carry the Matsu Miners (19-14) to a win on Friday, as the Matsu Miners fell to the Alaska Goldpanners (21-12) 9-8 at Growden Memorial Park in seven innings.

Each team blasted the other's pitching, and there were 17 total runs and 24 hits during the game. Both bullpens were busy with six pitchers used in the game as the skippers of both squads tried to finish it off.

David Edwards had three extra-base hits for the Alaska Goldpanners. He singled in the fourth inning, homered in the sixth inning, and doubled in the first and seventh innings.

Matt Milke improved to 3-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Alaska Goldpanners. He allowed two runs over two innings. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered three hits.

Tyler Martin (1-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out two, and allowed three runs.

The Alaska Goldpanners were sparked by Edwards and Casey Munoz, who teamed up for seven hits and five RBIs.
