The Bridgeport Bluefish make the most of 9 hits in 5-3 victory over the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs

Both the Bridgeport Bluefish (11-13) and the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (10-15) put runners aboard on Sunday, but it was the Bridgeport Bluefish that were able to take advantage, pulling out a 5-3 win at Harbor Yard.

The Bridgeport Bluefish held off the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs, as the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs were unable to overcome a three-run second inning deficit.

The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs scored two runs in the seventh on a two-run single by Wladimir Sutil. Despite their efforts, the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs couldn't finish the comeback.

It was a good day at the plate for the Bridgeport Bluefish's Luis Rodriguez. Rodriguez went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the eighth inning.

Josh Butler got the win, running his season record to 2-0. He allowed three runs over 6 2/3 innings. Butler struck out five, walked one and gave up eight hits.

Michael Ballard (0-1) took the loss for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. He lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed four runs.
