An outstanding effort by Ryan Harvey hoisted the Lancaster Barnstormers (9-11) to a 5-4 win over the Long Island Ducks (6-14) on Thursday at Clipper Magazine.
Harvey blasted two home runs for the Lancaster Barnstormers. Harvey went 2-4 in the game with four RBIs and two runs scored. Harvey homered in the first and sixth innings.
The Lancaster Barnstormers came out swinging, scoring three runs in the first inning to jump ahead of the Long Island Ducks early. A three-run home run by Harvey delivered the runs in the first. The Lancaster Barnstormers had five hits in the inning.
The Lancaster Barnstormers staved off the Long Island Ducks as the Long Island Ducks were unable to match the Lancaster Barnstormers down the stretch.
The Long Island Ducks scored on an RBI single by Danny Perales and an RBI double by Josh Barfield in the fifth inning and a two-run double by Barfield in the seventh inning. Still, the Long Island Ducks couldn't draw even.
Alan Johnson recorded his first win of the year for the Lancaster Barnstormers. He allowed two runs over five innings. Johnson struck out one, walked three and gave up seven hits.
Bill Murphy (0-5) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just six innings, walked none, struck out four, and allowed five runs.
