The Brewster Whitecaps (4-8) couldn't get anything going so long as Matt Packer was on the hill. Packer held the Brewster Whitecaps hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out five.
Sean Hoelscher was effective even in defeat, mowing down five the Orleans Firebirds batters and allowing zero runs.
Steven Maxwell (1-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed one run.
