Zach Cox brought home the winning run to give the Cotuit Kettleers (7-4) the lead in the eighth inning, as the Cotuit Kettleers hung on to beat the Hyannis Harbor Hawks (5-6) 2-1 on Sunday.
Jeff Rowland singled to start the eighth. He then went from first to second on a groundout by Chris Bisson. Finally, Cox came to the plate with the score tied at one in the eighth inning, and singled, scoring Rowland.Benjamin Rowen pitched lights out for the Cotuit Kettleers. The Hyannis Harbor Hawks managed just two hits off of the the Cotuit Kettleers' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during his three innings of work.
Cole Johnson was effective even in defeat, mowing down eight the Cotuit Kettleers batters and allowing one run.
Eric Maust ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed one run.
