An excellent effort by Craig Riordan carried the Plugs and Sockets (8-2) to a 14-9 win in seven innings over the toon squad (7-3) on Wednesday at Firemens Field.
Riordan hit two home runs for the Plugs and Sockets. Riordan went 3-3 in the game with two RBIs and two runs scored. Riordan homered in the third and fifth innings.
Each team blasted the other's pitching, and there were 23 total runs and 31 hits during the game.
The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to five lead changes in the game.
Pj Haines put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the toon squad. He tripled in the third and fifth innings and singled in the first and seventh innings.
Even though J.P. Petrillo allowed nine runs over seven innings he still recorded the victory, his third of the season. Petrillo struck out two, walked two and gave up 13 hits.
Sean Geddes couldn't get it done on the rubber for the toon squad, taking a loss. He allowed 14 runs in six innings, walked one and struck out one.
