Wednesday was a great day for Matt Petry, as he hit two home runs to carry the Plugs and Sockets (3-1) to a 23-7 victory over the Boozehounds (3-1) at Bellport Field #2 in five innings.
Fourteen runs in the opening three innings allowed the Plugs and Sockets to easily put away the Boozehounds. An RBI single by Denise Salzman, a two-run home run by Petry, an RBI single by Robert Schwartz, and an RBI single by Jen Murphy during the first inning and , a sacrifice fly by Lindsay Kuefner, and a groundout by Schwartz in the second inning helped the Plugs and Sockets put some runs on the board early.
Katelyn Morrissey put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Boozehounds. He tripled in the second inning and doubled in the third inning.
J.P. Petrillo got his second win for the Plugs and Sockets despite allowing seven runs over five innings. Petrillo struck out none, walked two and gave up 11 hits.
Tyrone Ligon was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed 23 runs in five innings, walked two and struck out none.
The Plugs and Sockets pounded the Boozehounds pitching, as nine hitters combined for 24 hits, 25 RBIs and 20 runs scored.
