A great effort by CJ Silva carried the Newport (3-1) to a 5-1 win over the Town Dock on Tuesday at Cardines Field.

Silva's 10 strikeouts helped the Newport to the victory. Silva allowed no earned runs on five hits and three walks over nine innings.

Matt Murphy had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the second inning and tripled in the fourth inning.

Jim Pollock (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just eight innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed five runs.

Brian Baker, Murphy and Anthony Conte helped lead the Newport. They combined for eight hits and three RBIs.
